A. All our candidates have been interviewed by one of our consultants in either a face to face or skype interview. They will hold a current (or in process) criminal clearance, first aid or be willing to obtain one. Nannies will have relevant child related experience and/or childcare qualifications with relevant reference and background checks. We pride ourselves in providing our families with the highest calibre of professional candidates.
Q. What are the differences in prices between Nannies/ Household Staff Placements and Babysitters?
A. Please view our pricing page for the hourly rates of our babysitters in your area. Nanny/Household Staff salaries are negotiable between you and the candidates at the time of the interview, unless you have advertised your position as a non-negotiable flat salary/rate.
NANNIES / HOUSEHOLD STAFF
Q. Does it cost anything to register our nanny/household staff request on the website?
A. Yes – we have a CHF200 plus VAT Search registration fee to commence the search. Our placement fees are applicable when employment is offered to one of our candidates and he/she accepts your offer. Please view our pricing page to find out costs on our placement fees.
Q. What is your recruitment process and how long will it take to find a suitable candidate?
A. Once you have uploaded your nanny request to our system, the current screened candidates on our database will be notified of the new position and invited to apply. We will simultaneously upload the nanny request to our Available Jobs section on our website for external candidates to apply. Please ensure you add as much detail as possible to your nanny request including responsibilities and any other specific requirements you may need such as languages, driver’s license, qualifications etc. Once we have sourced suitable candidates we will endeavor to send you 2-4 candidate suitable profiles. For permanent nanny positions, we often advise to start the search process at least 2-3 months in advance of required start date however we will endeavor to do our best in the time frame you require.
Q. Can the family set up an interview directly with the candidate?
A. Should you wish to interview one or more of the candidates, we are happy to arrange the interview on your behalf or you may arrange with them directly (please inform us if you will be contacting them directly to arrange interviews). You are also welcome to contact the references directly upon consultation with us. You can choose to conduct the interview at your home or in a neutral place such as a coffee shop. We are happy to provide a set of interview questions to use as a guideline in your nanny interviews.
Q. What does Rockmybaby® help with in terms of the employment contract set up?
A. Once you have interviewed the candidates and decide on offering the position to one of our proposed nannies/household staff, we will assist you with the setting up of the employment relationship by providing advice on salaries, providing a template employment contract, template payslip and advice on employment contributions needed, work permit advice if needed etc.
Q. What contributions and insurances do I need to pay for a nanny/household staff?
A. All families that employ a nanny/household staff will need to have accident insurance/s, pay the social contributions including AHV/AVS, deduct tax at source for the candidate if he/she is not a Swiss citizen or C Permit holder, contribute towards the BVG/LPP (2nd pillar pension if salary above CHF21,150 per annum) and abide by the employment regulations for domestic staff in Switzerland.
Q. Who employs the nanny/household staff?
A. As the contract of employment is between a family and a Nanny/Household Staff, the family is the Employer in the relationship and responsible for all employment obligations. You can also view our client obligations on our Terms & Conditions page.
Q. What additional housekeeping duties can we ask the nanny to do?
A. Normally nannies are expected to keep all children’s rooms and living areas clean and tidy, children’s laundry, change linen and organize children meals. At the time of the interview discuss with the nanny what extra duties you are interested in the nanny performing. At this stage you have clearly outlined what is required of the position and if the nanny is happy to include in her contract.
Q. What is the average salary for a nanny?
A. Live–in and live-out nanny salaries range between CHF3,800 – CHF6,000 per month gross on average depending on experience and qualifications. For live-in nannies, an amount of 990CHF can be deducted from their salaries for food and accommodation. Hourly rates for nannies range between CHF20-CHF35 per hour gross on average. For average salaries of other Household Staff – please contact your regional office. There is a minimum salary range for domestic staff in Switzerland including nannies based on experience and qualifications – CHF18.55 for someoe with no experience, CHF20 per hour for someone with four years+ experience and no qualifications and CHF22.40 per hour for four years+ experience and qualification.
Q. What if the nanny/household staff leaves or is not suitable?
A. In the event of a nanny/household staff leaving or not being suitable, we will make every effort to find you a replacement at no extra cost within the first three months of employment of the current nanny (fees will need to have been paid as per our terms of business).

Q. Will I get the same babysitter every time I book?
A. You are able to request a certain babysitter, by adding the babysitters name in special requests, or you can email through to your regional office and put through a request. We will always let the sitter know that you have requested them and if they are unable to accept the booking, then it will be made available to others as sometimes the requested sitter may not always be available.
Q. Do I need to do AHV/AVS for Babysitters?
A. Yes, the family is responsible for submitting the AHV/AVS social contributions annually. Please ensure you are registered as an employer with the AHV/AVS and keep track of the number of hours that the babysitters have worked for you. You will also need to keep a record of each babysitters AHV / AVS number.
Q. What if the family would like to meet the babysitter before they book them officially?
A. We are happy to arrange interviews for you prior to releasing your babysitter request, however this will be at an additional once off CHF50 admin fee. We also request the families pay the babysitters for the time they spend in the interview at a rate of CHF24 per hour.
Q. Do I get a refund if you can’t find a babysitter?
A. Yes - if Rockmybaby® is unable to place a babysitter with your booking, your agency fee is fully refundable. Once confirmation of a sitter is made the booking fee is non-refundable. Also view our Terms & Conditions page in regards to refunds.
Q. How many children can you have with one babysitter?
A. We have a maximum of four children per babysitter - Rockmybaby® consultants at their discretion may request that more than one babysitter is required for reasons of safety and wellbeing of the children. For example, if a client/s booked one babysitter for four children under the age of three - this would require two babysitters.
Q. Do we have to pay fuel charges?
A. If you expect your nanny/sitter to use her vehicle to transport children, you will be charged fuel charges by the Nanny/sitter at the end of the job.
